Shopping in Shanghai

Today we went shopping in the Chinese market. Its a pretty different experience. You basically have to negotiate prices with them. They had lots of great souvenirs though. The shopping market was so beautiful. We met this guy in one of the little vendor shops that owned an oyster farm. He got us a pretty great deal on pearls and got us VIP private table in the restaurant that sells the Best Chinese Dumplings in Shanghai. It was pretty great.

We also went to the fabric market where they make clothes. I got a long, creme cashmere coat made. Hopefully it comes out nice

Fun in Shanghai

Yesterday we finished up early so we decided to out. We went to this Icebar in the city. Everything in the place was made of ice and we had to wear special coats inside. We could only stay in there for 10 minutes at a time.

I'm trying to get used to this time difference. 12 hours difference is killing me.

After Icebar we went to a German outdoor restaurant with this amazing view of the city. More to come.

The first day

Here is the hotel we're staying in

Day one in China

Day one...i already had some issues. My bags didn't make it on the flight to Shanghai. Luckily, I had some clothes in my carry-on bag. We went to a bar district tonight. There were about 40 of us from the program so we had quite a few taxis. We got into them, having no idea where we were going.  It was hilarious. The concierge had given the cab driver instructions but we didn't know where we were going. We all showed up on different streets in the district looking for each other. One day and we're already lost in China.

After finally finding each other, we took over one of the clubs. Coincidentally one of the IMLPs was having a birthday so we had the club singers serenade him.
